Abstract

The positive effects of physical activity on quality of life, prevention/treatment of chronic diseases, likewise, its influence on health care expenses, are well elucidated in the Brazilian literature. However, studies that assess cost-utility through measures of quality of life and resources spent on health are still scarce in the Brazilian literature. Thus, the objective of the study will be to analyze the cost-utility in different models of health care in the municipality of Presidente Prudente/SP, considering the performance of the Physical Education professional. The sample will consist of patients, of both sexes, aged 40 years or over. Patients will be assessed for: i) quality of life; ii) QALY; iii) health costs; iv) level of physical activity; v) presence of diseases and use of medications; vi) blood pressure; vii) body mass index; viii) economic condition and ix) hospitalizations and surgeries. For statistical analysis, values of mean, standard deviation, median, difference between quartile and percentage values will be used for descriptive statistics, T Test for independent samples, Pearson correlation for numerical variables and the chi-square test for categorical variables. For cost-utility analysis, QALY values and the cost of the health care models studied will be used. Statistical significance (p-value) will be pre-fixed at values below 5%. The software used will be BioEstat (version 5.0). (AU)
