Abstract In this project, we pretend to investigate the synchronization of neuronal spikes in a network with synaptic plasticity and signal propagation delay. The synchronization is related to various neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease and epilepsy, so it is important to evaluate the processes by which occurs and ways to suppress this behavior. Neuronal dynamics will be described by Hodgkin-Huxley model considering excitatory and inhibitory chemical synapses with a time delay. We will consider the plasticity model known as "spike timing-dependent plasticity"(STDP) which are changes in synaptic interactions according to the times of spikes between neurons. We will analyze the changes in the neuronal connectivity caused by noise, the onset of partial or global synchronization of the network and the effect of topological symmetries between neural connections.
