Esthetic assessment of two different surgical-restorative approaches to treat gingival recession associated with non-carious cervical lesion: retrospective study

Abstract

The literature shows that the association between gingival recession and non-carious cervical lesion is a common finding and it has a different prognostic treatment when compared to the gingival recession treated isolated. In addition, the esthetic complaint is one of the main reasons that drives patients to seek for treatment. The present study aim to evaluate the esthetic outcome of 2 different approaches to treat gingival recession associated with non-carious cervical lesion. For this, two methods of evaluation will be performed. It included 40 combined lesions that received the following treatment: connective tissue graft plus composite resin total restoration (CTG+TR); connective tissue graft plus composite resin partial restoration (CTG+PR). Initials and finals pictures of treatments will be put side by side on a panel two esthetic evaluations will be performed: 1. Professional evaluation, a modification of the RES score (MRES) and 2. A patient standpoint using VAS. The intergroup and intragroup differences will be assessed by variance test. (AU)
