Abstract

In the moments of strong financial expansion of the historical geography of capitalism, as in the current period of globalization, the financial logic, when autonomous in the face of societies and the real economy, imposes its norms of profitability on companies and the territory. Thus, to understand the relationship between the current phenomenon of financialization of the economy and the agricultural use of the Brazilian territory, we will analyze how the information techniques allow the capture of the land rent from the performance of the company SLC Agrícola. In the attempt to understand and qualify its strategies, the research involves the approach of three main aspects: a) how the use of geographic information systems (GIS) makes it possible to prospect the areas of greatest productive potential, from the creation and use of a bank Of land data; B) how agricultural technical systems allow the capture of the income produced from the land, by transforming raw land (covered with native vegetation) into highly productive areas; C) and the strategy of formation of land banks (control of land not yet transformed), for future transformation as a way of demonstrating the company's growth potential and attracting new investors, characterizing themselves as forms of absolute income.
