Abstract

In the city of Rio Claro, São Paulo, floristic surveys which covers fertile botanical material collections from the various plant life habits are rare. The creation of a Geological Park in the district of Assistência is of great relevance for the geoconservation, for the development of geoturism, environmental education and preservation of the local fauna and flora. Since in the area the presence of the Irati and Corumbataí geological formations are of interest to limestone and ceramic industries, which removes the vegetation or prevents its regeneration, the survey of the Geological Park will provide information for the conservation and its management. The research has as primary goal to acknowledge the wealth of the plant species present in the Geological Park of Assistência, by collecting fertile botanical material once a month for at least one year. With the results, its hoped to acknowledge the wealth of the plant species, to determine the dispersal and pollination syndromes and find out the degree of the floristic similarities of the area with another areas of Rio Claro, according to the life forms studied in each research.
