Abstract

In this study will be used an instrumental analytical technique of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and will be conducted to develop analytical procedures for the detection and quantification of trace elements in seaweeds of the genus Sargassum in port locations of São Sebastião, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba. There will be a comparison of these specimens with other standard Sargassum (NIES Certified Reference Material No. 9). It will also performed an analysis of microbiota associated with such algae by preparing culture media for bacteria and fungi. It is intended to establish a line of comparison between the three regions and assess the potential of these algae as environmental pollution bioindicators, so detecting potential risks to the environment and health in the exposure of heavy metals and commonly related to contamination microorganisms.
