Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between an expected difference in progeny (DEP) for sexual precocity and an expression of genes related to adipogenesis, fibrogenesis, lipogenesis and lipid metabolism in Nellore cattle. Will be selected 130 Nelore bulls, from University of Sao Paulo, with an average age of 20 months, with genetic information (DEPs) for precocity or more contrasting animals. The animals will be confined individually for 100 days kept under the same management conditions and will be feeding ad libitum with a diet containing 80% concentrate. Each 28 days the steers will be weighed and evaluated by ultrasonography and will be collected (initial and final) blood samples for hormonal quantification. During slaughter, will be collected small samples for extraction of RNA and proteins involved in adipogenesis. Additionally, 24 hours after slaughter, samples of longissimus dorsi muscles will be collected, vacuum packed individually and frozen for analysis of the total lipids and fatty acid profile. The data obtained will be evaluated by analysis of variance, to verify the effect of the DEP's group (high or low) on the evaluated characteristics and univariate and multivariate, aiming to find possible relationships between DEP's values of the animals with the different characteristics. Analyzes of simple correlations will also be performed, aiming to identify a possible linear relationship between the factors and characteristics. (AU)
