Abstract

Even though the use of the HPV vaccine was approved in 2006 in the private health care for women and in 2011 for both sexes, it is only in 2017 that it is available for both sexes at the public health care in Brazil. The students that are entering the university have between 18-25 years and would be benefited by the vaccine. UNICAMP is a university that receives students from the whole country and from different social status and in different courses, with makes it an ideal environment to evaluate the knowledge about the HPV and its vaccine. Objective: to evaluate 1) the knowledge about the HPV´s infection and its consequences, and also the HPV vaccine and its protective effects in male and female students of the first and lasts years from the courses of medicine, pharmacy, speech therapy, nursing and physic education of UNICAMP using some social demographic variables, cultural variables and the sexual antecedents; 2) the proportion of vaccinated students before and during graduation (attitude) and 3) the intention of taking the vaccine between the students that hadn´t take it, after answering to this questionnaire (attitude); 4) the intention of explaining the benefits of the HPV vaccine to others while working in the future, after responding to this questionnaire (practice). Subjects and methods: this is a cross sectional study that will include at least 479 students from the courses of medicine, pharmacy, speech therapy, nursing and physic education of UNICAMP. After signing the Term of Free Consent, the students that want to participate will answer a questionnaire of 79 questions. There will be compared the difference in knowledge, attitude and practice between the genders, courses, year of graduation and also the social demographics and cultural variables using the test of analyses of variances (ANOVA). It will be analyzed the bivaried correlation, the correlation between knowledge and practice, knowledge and attitude and attitude and practice. Finally, it will be made a model of linear multinominal regression to evaluate the correlation mentioned before, now controlled by significant associations found in the bivariable analyses made before.
