Abstract

Egg shell problems in laying hens are common, resulting from calcium deficiency which can be accompanied by changes of the skeletal system. Among the products rich in calcium is the L-calcium pidolate â. The aim of this project is to evaluate the effects of supplementation of L-Calcium pidolate â in ration on the skeletal system of layers within 57 to 69 weeks old chickens. Use 480 laying hens of trademark Hy-Line W36, White, distributed in a random block design with repeated measures in time. Will be tested 10 treatments distributed in factorial scheme 2 × 5 cross with eight repetitions of six birds each, resulting in 80 experimental units and a total of 480 birds. You will use four blocks, with two repetitions per block, which will consist of tracks. The measures will be carried out on the same experimental units during 12 weeks, totaling 84 days of rehearsal. To eight control treatment birds will be slaughtered in 57 weeks of age (T zero), and obtained an average value for the parameters of densitometry, composition and bone strength, Seedor index and mineral profile, respectively. Eight birds in each treatment, at 69° week of age, will be eutanasiadas with eletronarcose and later scanned for obtaining bone densitometry and composition of all Ave. shortly after will be dissected the right tibiotarso for evaluation of bone strength and obtaining Seedor index and the left for analysis of mineral profile. The values obtained will be compared between the two ages of layers and between treatments of 69° week of age. The statistical analysis of the data will be performed by the method of analysis of variance with the aid of the General Linear Model procedure (GLM) 9.4 SAS program. (AU)
