Abstract

"Rodeo art" is an expression used by the participants of the Festa do Peão Boiadeiro de Barretos to refer to both the grandiosity and prestige of the event and the atmosphere and festive experiences that take the city in the days of its accomplishment. The party is experienced by the interlocutors like "magic", "passion", "spree", "boil", "warm", spaces of the city are occupied and forms of leisure set around the "rural" produce senses about this universe. It is estimated that by 2016, about one million people have passed through Barretos during the party. In general, in recent years there has been a significant increase in the valuation of rural festivals, fest of pawns or rodeo, agricultural fairs, agricultural and livestock exhibition circuits, among other forms, and search for leisure and tourism that involves the " Rural world ". Rodeo parties, in particular, are honored by bull riding, where pedestrians and cowboys demonstrate their skills. Nevertheless, recently in Brazil, it rekindled the discussion about the cultural value of sporting practices and cultural manifestations with animals, directly implying the meanings of this "rodeo art". The objective of this research is to understand the meanings of this "art" and the universe of celebration that involves the world of the rodeo, for this, it is sought, under an ethnographic approach, to analyze the Festa do Peão Boiadeiro de Barretos, considering the multiple agents, events, situations , Relations, practices, imaginaries, representations and categories that configure this social world.
