Abstract

Science communication's importance for society is being recognized more than ever. The Laboratório de Estudos Avançados em Jornalismo (Labjor) of Universidade de Campinas (Unicamp) is a reference in science communication and journalism in Brazil. Other than the specialization course in science journalism, it also has various products for science communication, like the electronic magazine ComCiência and the web radio Oxigênio. A research center which could benefit from Labjor's knowledge and structure of science communication is the Programa de Pós-graduação em Psicobiologia (PPGP) of Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). PPGP has an important scientific production, both from basic and applied science standpoint. Its production rangers from various areas in neuroscience, including neurobiology of sleep, drug abuse, cognition, stress, memory and others. Beyond its scientific research PPGP is also very present in the society through digital courses, university extension, communication events and others. With a better communication of its activities PPGP would be able to diffuse the generated knowledge and also widen the range of its extension programs, increasing the social insertion of the program. This projects proposes to reformulate PPGP's website, to improve the publications of PPGP's social media, to produce material for science communication in text and video format and to support the organization of two extension events of PPGP, the Semana Nacional do Cérebro and the Semana do Sono. Beyond that, the beneficiary would also select relevant news on psychobiology to propagate on social media of PPGP and have activities as an intern on the electronic magazine ComCiência.
