Abstract

The present research proposal will be developed with reference to the thematic project entitled "Public accountability to residents in contractual urban redevelopments - PARCOUR" (Process FAPESP No. 2015/ 50131-0), which aims to analyses, based on case studies from different cities, urban instruments associated with contractual mechanisms, for the implementation of renovation projects in previously urbanized areas. This project involves researchers from Brazil, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and fundamentally investigates questions of the legal and institutional framework of the intervention models as well as the associated framework of governance and accountability towards the original residents and the city as a whole. This research of Scientific Initiation will focus on the Consorted Urban Operation Água Espraiada (OUCAE), which is one of the cases studied in PARCOUR. It will study the urban transformations that have occurred in the area of the operation. It will collect data and perform interpretive maps, drawings and tables that show the changes in occupation and land use, socioeconomic and demographic conditions that have occurred in the area over time, from the beginning of the Urban Operation in 2001 to the days of today. In this way, it can add socio-spatial elements that will contribute to the better understanding of the case, subsidizing the evaluations that the PARCOUR research should develop. (AU)
