Abstract

Currently, the electronic games called as e-sports have been gaining prominence nationally and internationally. In the literature, the relations that approach and distance them from the traditionals sports arerecurrent, however, studies involving this modality with the sports science and health are limited. Professional players of e-sports, as well as athletes from other modalities, require a preparation, which we call sports training. However, cyber-athlete training occurs in entirety before the computer and most of the time at night and/or extends to the same. In view of the foregoing, it is believed that professional e-sports athletes have predisposition to disorders and/or profile of the sleep pattern bellow that required for a good performance in sport. In this sense, the objective of the present research is to deliniate the quality and profile of the sleep pattern of professional athletes of the electronic game "League of Legends" (LoL) (classificated for the Brazilian circuit 2018) and analyze the relation of the hormone melatonin. The experimental sample will consist of 21 professional players LoL (approximately 3 teams), who, for the development of the research, will be evaluated by the questionnaires: Horne & Östberg (Cronotipo), Pittsburgh (quality of sleep), Epworth (Sleepiness) and sleep journal. In addition to the subjective analysis, players will use actigraph to evaluate the sleep-wake cycle and samples of salivary melatonin and body temperature will be collected in 4 different periods: pre-training (basal levels), preparatory phase, competitive phase and transition phase.
