Abstract

The common corn is one of the most important crop in the national range, however, its productivity in the country is affected by many factors, in which, we may include the pest attack as an important production limiter. Some alterations in the agricultural background, such as successive cultivation without fallow ("Green Bridge"), insecticide application without technical criterion associated with polyphagia of some insect species that unleash entomofauna disturbance. As an example, the neotropical brown stink bug, Euschistus heros, that causes large injuries to soybean crop in its reproductive stage, has gained relevance in the initial stage of corn crop. However, there are few studies that characterize the injuries caused by neotropical brown stinkbug on treated corn plants not treated with insecticides via seed treatment, to establish infestation limits to indicate the correct time to use different control tactics for this pest. Therefore, this study has its objective to characterize the injuries and stress cause by E. heros in insecticide treated and non-treated corn plants. (AU)
