Abstract

The present project of scientific initiation is inserted in the bundle of research whose themes are about the analysis of how the digital culture is mediated in the teaching-learning relations between teachers and students. Thus, the main objective of this project is to investigate the reactions of the teachers of the Department of Education (DEd) of the Pedagogy course to the use that their students make of their cellular devices, during the activities carried out in the classroom. It is known that the insertion of the technologies in the school environment began to interfere significantly in the social relations between students and teachers. These changes are present in the reconfiguration of teacher authority; in the rise of the phenomenon of distraction that the electronic devices encourages in the students and in the innumerable challenges that the educators face before the digital culture. The project will investigate, through semi-structured interviews and application of questionnaires, how these devices influence Brazilian higher education, since these devices cause great challenges to be faced by teachers. The questionnaires will be applied to the twenty-four faculty members of the DEd of the Pedagogy course of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The interviews will be conducted with six professors from this department. In this way, through the results found, the research aims to contribute to the university professors to identify the challenges of teaching technological advancement and to obtain the transformation of their teaching practice for a better relationship with university students and the digital environment.
