Abstract

Amputations are defined as the removal of a limb or segment of the body through surgery. The main causes are vascular problems, diabetes, tumors, trauma and malformation. Due to amputation, the individual needs to be reinserted in the environment in which he lives, and needs to be treated according to the complications that withdrawal of the limb can cause, such as phantom pain, among others. Several instruments are used to evaluate the patient with amputation of the lower limb and submitted to prosthetic, among them the Amputee Functional Measure (MFA) questionnaire containing questions related to the use of the prosthesis and the Short-Form 36 questionnaire (SF-36), which contains questions related to the quality of life in general. Objectives: To analyze the functionality of the patients regarding the use of the prosthesis through the functional measure for amputees questionnaire and to correlate the results obtained with the SF-36 questionnaire, aiming to perform the construct validation for different amputation levels, with the hypothesis that there will be moderate to high correlation of the MFA with the physical appearance of the SF-36. Methods: Fifty patients older than 18 years with lower limb amputation at any level between 2010 and 2016 will be included. All patients should have received their prosthesis through SUS by the Hospital das Clínicas Rehabilitation Center of FMRP-USP and have, received treatment for at least six months from the day of application of the questionnaires and are in use of the prostheses at the time of evaluation. The association between the scores of the questionnaires will be analyzed by the Pearson correlation index. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. (AU)
