Abstract

Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer in the world, with 7,930 being the number of deaths caused by the disease in 2016. Esophagectomy is the best technique for the resolution of cases, however, it presents a high morbidity and mortality rate. Strategies with correct airway management, hemodynamic control and fluid administration, and adequate analgesia can reduce complications. Method: The study will be retrospective through the analysis of electronic medical records of the institution. The data will be collected from electronic records of patients registered with ICESP with the medical diagnosis of esophageal cancer during the period from 2010 to 2015, who underwent videolaparoscopic esophagectomy. Objectives: To identify the main postoperative clinical complications in videolaparoscopic esophagectomies and to analyze the use of vasoactive drugs as a risk factor. Mortality in 30 days and analysis of the association of inflammatory biomarkers. Statistical analysis: The descriptive and univariate analysis of the population will be performed for primary and secondary outcomes. Continuous variables will be compared with test t-student and categorical variables with chi-square test or Fisher's exact test or likelihood ratio test. With these data, it will be possible to review the protocols and conduct of the institution aiming at the continuous improvement of the quality of care for surgical patients. (AU)
