Abstract

The nursing team provides integral care to the patient for 24 hours. In the cancer patient, besides the specialized assistance for the type of cancer and the proposed treatment, there are other aspects related to the most present and constant emotional support. This greater contact favors closer patient/ professional relationships, making nursing professionals share the whole process of becoming ill, suffering and in many cases, the death process. The overload of oncological patient care, in addition to institutional issues, requires the nursing team to be more attentive and with this can lead to burnout, occupational stress, anxiety and depression symptoms. Objective: To evaluate the levels of burnout, anxiety symptoms and depression among nursing professionals. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study that will select for convenience 655 technicians and nurses from Units I and II (Palliative Care) Pio XII Foundation - Hospital de Cancer de Barretos with at least 3 months of work in the institution. Firstly, there will be a moment of "sensitization", where the nursing team will receive a call for meetings about the research objectives and posters will be placed in the informative murals of the two units for the nursing professionals to become aware of. Meetings will be held in the two units with the purpose of presenting the subject (burnout, anxiety and depression in nursing) and the objectives of the research. Next, they will be invited to participate in the research, answering the evaluation instruments: Variables related to the daily routine of nursing professionals, Questionnaire on socioeconomic characterization, demographic and health/work related data, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Hospital Anxiety Scale Depression (HADS). Data analysis: Nursing professionals will be classified as Burnout Syndrome and symptoms of Anxiety and Depression, and will be verified the association between them and the socio-demographic, health-related and specific characteristics of the nursing team's daily life. The SPSS v.21.0 software will be used for analysis and a significance level of 5%. (AU)
