Abstract

This research project proposes a study over arrangements of the soundtrack from videogames of the franchise Touhou Project through the bias of Charles S. Peirce's semiotic, understanding the arrange as a member of the semiotic chain of Sign, Object and interpretant where it functions as a sign that substitutes the object soundtrack, having extra-musical content as its interpretant. That would be possible thanks to the intersemiotic nature of videogames, where the soundtrack never appears isolated from the rest, but related to other signifying elements. To promote such study, it will be used musical analysis tools from Arnold Schoenberg's book "Fundamentals of Musical Composition" to clarify both the way the soundtrack relates with semantic elements from the original game and how that relation is reflected in composicional choices in the arrangements.
