Abstract

An option that has been gaining prominence recently in Brazil are the wet distillery grains (WDG), due to the beginning of ethanol production from corn and its use in the feed of confined beef cattle. However few studies on the nutritional profile of WDG in Brazil for cattle in confinement. Therefore, the objectives of this project will be to evaluate the effects of inclusion of increasing levels of distilled moist grains on diets with milled corn in the blood profile, biochemistry and liver histology and incidence of hepatic abscesses in ½ Nelore - Angus cattle in feedlot fed with increasing levels of distillery moist grain (WDG) with corn-based diets. One hundred male bovines with an initial mean weight of 370 kg will be distributed in a randomized block design in four treatments 0; 15%; 30% and 45% inclusion of DM corn distillery from dietary DM (WDG). For the evaluation of the liver profile, blood samples will be taken for the determination of hepatic enzymes linked to hepatic metabolism. At 130 days of trough the animals will be slaughtered in commercial refrigerator and evaluated the incidence of liver abscesses and collected samples for determination of histology morphometric parameters of hepatic parenchyma. The data obtained will be submitted to analysis of variance using the PROC MIXED procedure of the SAS software and the Tukey test for comparison between the means, considering significant values of P <0.05.
