Abstract Among the most important transformations in the music of the second half of the twentieth century, we can mention, from the 50's, the indeterminacy and the use of improvisation in musical composition, modifying the relations between performers, composers and works, and bringing to the surface the element of the game to the performance and creation. Since then the idea of composing with musical games has become of interest to composers of different lineages, styles and aesthetics, becoming a current compositional practice in the contemporary music. In this project we propose an analytical study about the musical games and an artistic synthesis, emphasizing their practice by groups and composers in the present time. We intend to organize a book of procedures, techniques and ideas for the creation and performance of musical games, including the composition of an original musical games book, aiming to disseminate to artists, researchers and educators some ideas and proposals about the artistic application of these techniques and principles in composition and performance. The methodological proposal includes: 1) a deepening in the specific bibliography; 2) analysis of reference musical works, (3) survey of current groups and composers working with this type of practice; 4) process follow-up, data collection and detailed analysis of two or three current composers or groups developing this practice; 5) creative laboratory including the group Obra Aberta (Campinas) and groups formed by music students at UNICAMP; 6) treatment of the collected data and of the results of the analysis, seeking to establish a structural basis from which to build the framework of this work.
