Abstract

The hypothesis of this project is: the number of enterprises recognized as having sustainable practices, located near to protected areas, does not contribute to the preservation of ecosystems at the same rate of consumption of ecosystem services. Due to the inefficiency of the actions developed and to the increase in exploration, justified by the increase of development of conservation actions. Therefore, the relation of association with interference between sustainability and conservation of biodiversity in protected areas will be investigated within the business sector. The rate of consumption of the ecosystem services used and extracted from natural areas by the sectors of interest will be estimated. So, it will infer how much organizations consume and how much they should return, compared to how much they return through biodiversity conservation actions. Agricultural, industrial and energy production was driven by world population growth and increased consumerism. Thus, environmental resources were explored more quickly, leading to biodiversity loss and climate change. However, several international multi-sectoral agreements have been and are being developed as an attempt to mitigate and minimize the environmental impacts suffering by the planet. In this regard, the agrarian, energy and industrial sectors are at the heart of the discussion due to the economic importance of their activities, as well as the environmental damages that result from their activities. These sectors have already been developing mitigating and minimizing environmental damage, but there is little debate about whether the actions developed are enough to supply the stock of natural resources provided by ecosystems.
