Despite recent advances in the areas of dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences, infections caused by the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1), commonly called herpes simplex (HSL), still remain a public health problem, reaching around 20 to 40% of the world population, without preference for race, sex or age. This pathogenesis has no cure and remains latent in the individual throughout the life cycle. Thus, the search for effective therapeutic alternatives in the control of the limitations caused by this infection during the stages of evolution of the disease, is necessary, since they have a direct impact on the quality of life of the individuals. Thus, the aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of semisolid film precursor composition in situ in the treatment of herpes simplex lesions in humans with Herpes Simplex virus 1 (HSV1). For this study, it was initially performed the proof of concept regarding the efficacy of the gel for the treatment of Herpes Simplex 1, as well as the analysis of the impact of this pathogenesis on the quality of life of these patients, through the application and interpretation of forms filled by the patients (Annex 1). The forms aim to compare patients' quality of life before and after treatments with the use of the semisolid film precursor composition developed exclusively for this research. The second stage of this project is performed after the clinical application of the semisolid composition with the active drug. For this stage, 90 patients with Herpes labialis will be selected and three applications will be performed: the first being at time zero (initial appointment) and the other two at 8 hours after initial application (T0, T8 and T16). The total anesthetic applied in 16 hours will be 90mg. For qualitative and comparative analysis, photographs will be taken during the stages of the lesion, being an initial recording and after 24 hours of the first application. For the prognosis, follow-ups should be made after 3 and 6 months, to verify remission of signs / symptoms or eventual relapse. (AU)
