Abstract

This project addresses correlations in the light scattered by disordered atomic clouds, due to the interaction between atomic dipoles. We will study both classical and quantum effects, with a special attention to experimental signatures, in order to interpret and stimulate experiments in the INPHYNI. In particular, we aim to investigate the light statistics of speckle (for ex., the Siegert relation), optical coherences in a classical (due to the speckle dynamics) and quantum (fluorescence spectrum, blockade effect) setup. All these effects will studied in the context of the long-range interaction mediated by the light, which should generate macroscopic signatures in optically dense clouds.
