Abstract

Chronically excessive energy intake, compared to energy expenditure, leads to increase adipose tissue and increase risk of mortality, thus nutritional strategies, as well as, different physical exercise programs can be used in an attempt to suppress appetite and thus, to maintenance the energy balance. However, the effects of muscle strength training on food control are unclear. Thus, this study will aim to verify the suppression of appetite and total energy intake after an acute protocol of strength training. Twenty young adults between 18 and 35 years old will be selected, 10 participants for the training group and 10 for the control group. Strength training will be performed at 65% 1RM for all muscle groups. To evaluate the energy intake will be applied the 24-hour food registration, being three days before the test and the day of the test. To evaluate appetite suppression, a hunger scale will be applied on the training day at times: fasting, immediately after breakfast, before training, immediately after training, 1 hour after training, and 2 hours after training. Comparisons between training types will be performed by two-way analysis of variance. (AU)
