Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the systolic and diastolic functions of the left ventricle of rabbits submitted to continuous infusion of lidocaine. Ten rabbits, male and female, New Zealand weighing approximately 3.5 kg will be used. All animals (n = 10) will undergo two treatments: G1 - midazolam (1 mg / kg /IM) + 0.9% NaCl solution infusion; G2 - midazolam (1 mg/kg/IM) + lidocaine infusion (50 mcg/kg/minute), with a minimum interval of seven days between treatments. The variables heart rate, systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressure, shortening fraction, ejection fraction, Doppler cardiac index, E / A ratio, E '/ A' and TRIV, will be collected 30 minutes after midazolam (M0) and 20, 40 and 60 minutes (M20, M40 and M60, respectively) after started continuous rate infusion of lidocaine or NaCl 0,9% according to each group. Two-way ANOVA will be used with repeated measures for comparison between moments and groups, followed by multiple comparison tests. The Dunnett test will be used to compare each of the moments with the baseline and the Bonferroni-corrected T-paired test to compare the groups. The differences will be considered significant when the value of P <0.05. If the ANOVA assumptions are not met, the Friedman non-parametric test will be used to compare the moments followed by the Dunn multiple-comparison test and the Wilcoxon test for comparison of the groups.
