Abstract

This project elaborates, in the light of considerations from focus groups with Brazilian lesbians, the construction of existing relationships between the relational circle of lesbian youths and the dynamicities of lesbophobia in the face of suicidal ideations and acts. The theoretical basis of this discussion is a review of the literature on suicide among the LGBTQ population with a special focus on lesbian women, and the establishment of gender identities, intersectionality and queer theory. In order to follow up the process of analysis and debate of the reports acquired for the accomplishment of a master's study during the formation of groups (Haloas) with young Brazilian lesbians in the face of suicidal dynamics and the effects of lesbophobia in this relation, we will try to understand how they dealt with the social manifestations of disgust and disrespect for the assumed sexual orientation and the consequences of it to their lives. The data referring to these groups were transcribed and analyzed from the use of theoretical points derived from discourse analysis with influences from the Foucaultian and Queer studies. Taking the subjective practices of this process, it will be considered how the presuppositions of the internalization of the hate speech and / or invisibility for the lesbianities can be constituted as devices favorable to the ideations and attempts of suicide. Once these issues are elucidated, the study intends to develop strategies that allow the theoretical interface between psychology, social sciences and mental health in favor of visibility and the construction of policies that assure positions committed to the inherent needs of the Brazilian lesbian youth population.
