Abstract

This project describes the scientific and instrumental aspect of the studiesthat will be carried out by Mr. Yves Auad during an internship at Dr. Kociaksgroup at the Laboratory for Solid State Physics, in Orsay-France. Similarly tothe studies carried out in Brazil, they study light emission with high spatialand spectral resolution in the context of atomic resolution microscopes.During this stay, the light emission and the light absorption by point defectsand individual atoms will be carried out, with particular attention tonitrogen-vacancy centers (NV) in diamond. To achieve such goal, the studentwill work with the special high performance light detection device build andpatented in the Kociak's team. Moreover, the student will work with one ofthe best high resolution microscopes of the world. This experience willgreatly contribute to the student carrier, to his Master's degree project andto the group in Brazil. (AU)
