In this project, we propose to perform a detailed analysis of the quark-gluon vertex using as main tool the so-called Schwinger-Dyson equations.The most general Lorentz decomposition for this quantity consists in twelve tensorial structures which are accompanied by the corresponding form factors. Each of these form factors depends on three independent variables, namely the moduli of two momenta and the angle between them. A decomposition commonly employed in the studies of this vertex divides it into two parts: one that saturates its Slavnov-Taylor identity and the transverse part, which is often neglected due to several difficulties. The aim of this project is precisely to determine the nonperturbative behavior of the form factors of the transverse part. In order to do that, we will first study the quark-gluon vertex perturbatively and, then, with the help of its Schwinger-Dyson equation, we will look at it from a nonperturbative point of view.As an application, we will study the impact of the transverse form factors on the dynamical quark mass generation phenomenon.
