Abstract

Introduction: High Blood Pressure, represents one of the main problems of Public health in developed and developing countries, prevalence has increased sharply in men and women from several countries. The accuracy of the data has been shown to be a major challenge, becoming an essential procedure to assist in the diagnosis and interpretation of the data. The verification and recognition of the quality of the equipment used are essential for its legitimacy and reliability, it is important that such equipment be evaluated in accordance with the validation standards required by international entities. Thus, is valid to develop studies that assess blood pressure levels in this population. Objective: To estimate the validity of blood pressure measurement using an automatic oscillometric device (Omron HEM-7200), against the mercury column in children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 years. Methods: The blood pressure will be measured by the Omron HEM 7200 automatic device, Y-connected with the mercury column, carried out three consecutive and simultaneous measurements between the devices. The independent measurements will be analyzed and the mean differences between systolic and diastolic measurements for both methods calculated and compared with the British Hypertension Society (BHS). To verify the relation between both, we used the intraclass correlation coefficient and the Bland-Altman plot (concordance). The specificity and sensitivity of the device were determined by the ROC curve. (AU)
