Abstract

Obesity is considered a major public health challenge because it presents a multifactorial etiology with metabolic, genetic, environmental, social and cultural interactions. Faced with this fact, the rate of the overweight and obese population is a problem that increasingly affects the whole world. The most well-known reason is due to the excessive consumption of hypercaloric foods and the sedentary lifestyle in which a considerable part of the current society lives. There are several studies that describe a hypercaloric diet as a negative factor for bone quality. However, studies indicate that the practice of physical activity acts as a positive factor in bone quality. Therefore, the objective of the study is to evaluate the effects of hypercaloric feeding, using the cafeteria diet, associated with resistance exercise in mass, mechanical resistance and bone structure of rats. For this purpose, forty young male Wistar rats will be used, assigned in four groups (n = 10): animals fed a cafeteria diet (DC), animals fed a standard diet induced to the practice of physical exercise (EF), animals fed a cafeteria diet induced to the practice of physical exercise (DCEF) and animals fed a standard diet (CONT). After 10 experimental weeks, the blood of animals will be collected, and after two days will be submitted to euthanasia. The lefts and rights tibias and the liver of all animals will be colected for evaluation. The analyses will be performed: insulin tolerance test, analysis of liver tissue, clinical analysis of animals, macroscopic analysis of bones, bone densitometry, mechanical testing and scanning electron microscopy.
