Abstract

Voice Therapy aims to improve vocal quality by the means of orientations and voice exercises. They will act in laringeal muscules, hence a balance between myeloelastic strength and aerodynamics. It is known that voice therapy can be divided into direct and indirect; thus, for indirect therapy there are voval hygiene orientations and voice production in order to subject modify harmful habits and improve voice quality. Direct therapy can be composed by voice exercises such as, Vocal Function Exercises (VFE) thet improve three voice production subsystems: breathing, ressonance and phonation. Another way of direct therapy is with the semi ocluded vocal exercises (SOVTE), that enables better filter and source interation by the means of acoustic impedance changes. Studies that use a SOVTE protocol are almost zero. Therefore it is believed that a porpuse with a SOVTE protocol can contribute for voice clinic. Objective: Veriffy the treatment effect with SOVTE protocol at voice quality and self-assessment in dysphonic subjects compared to VFE and indirect therapy. Study Design: Clinical trial. Methodology: Thirty subjects are going to participate initially, aged between 18 to 50 years old with vocal complaints and functional dysphonia. Equaly divided into three groups: Experimental Group (EG), Vocal Function Exercises Group (VFEG) and Indirect Therapy Group (ITG). There are going to have trhee assessment moments: before of therapy, immediately after and one month after. Vocal and laringeal symptoms, ressonance quality, vocal fatigue, and dysphonia handcap will be assessed. Furthermore the subjects voice will be recorded for acoustic and perceptive analysis. The therapy will happen in 35 minutes eight sessions, twice a week. (AU)
