Abstract

The sheep production represent is a good opportunity in brazilian agribusiness. The herd nutrition, as well as, reproduction are key points for development of this sector. Cottonseed is an importante food source can be used to ruminants diet. However, this seed has anti-nutritional factor called gossypol, that it has toxicity and can provide negatively affect on fertility in male. Thus, further studies are needed to evaluate the use this food with security because very little is known about the downward maternal effect of sheep fed cottonseed and its male descendants. In this scenario, approaches in nutrigenomic will be of great value to make progress on the issue and make sure recommendation to use this seed in ruminant feed. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of cottonseed (gossypol) intake for Santa Ines ewe on testicular development lamb. (AU)
