Abstract

As the appearance of microorganisms antibiotic resistant grows, the need to search for alternative sources that supplies the same functionality of the drug - microbial death - also arises. This work is developed in that precise context. With the same intention, the microbial photoinactivation is already known as an appliance that, through a photosensitizer (PS), generates cellular damage from apoptotic and/or necrotic mechanisms. The cytotoxicity of that compound comes from the light interaction with the PS, inducing a series of photophysical and photochemical reactions in electronic levels, in a process called photodynamic activity. The PS used on the project are molecules of biotechnological origin, classified as chlorinated derivatives. Those compounds are found in animals and plants, being a part of fundamental processes like photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The PS delivery mechanism proposed by this project is nanostructured emulsion containing the molecule associated to the lipophilic nucleus of the colloid. To obtain the best polymer composition of the nanoemulsions, preformulation studies will be performed to choose the most stable colloidal dispersion, being this composition used in other experiments. O que se espera com o projeto é a obtenção de uma nanoemulsão com alta estabilidade físico-química, e potencial fotodinâmico adequado para aplicação e ensaios fotobiológicos futuros utilizando-se modelos in vitro e in vivo. The physical-chemical stability evaluation of the formulations from parameters as particle size, Zeta potential and polydispersity index as a function of time. What is expected with the project is the obtaining of a nanoemulsion with high physical-chemical stability, and photodynamic potential suitable for application and future photobiological tests using in vitro and in vivo models.
