Abstract

The project aims to characterize technologically the lithologies and to locate the best sites of the Rio Claro Formation, for the exploration of sand in the context of the civil construction. By means of a study on the formation, aerial images of the outcrops, fieldwork and technological analyzes of the sandstone, soil and its products, it will be possible to show its qualities that will benefit the construction sector, due to its high dependence on this material as an aggregate. In this work will be suppressed the gap of projects that aim to characterize this formation technologically for its potentiality in the mentioned sector, as well as other correlated formations belonging to the Cenozoic coverings, whose formation belongs, which also have few publications for this purpose. The regional context of the formation benefits the study, having the section-type in Rio Claro (SP), known for the exploitation of sand and clay, in a region that requires and produces a lot of sand for civil construction. In the end, thematic maps and a final report will be prepared with the data obtained and their interpretations, so the project will economically benefit the city for new possibilities of exploitation of deposits.
