Abstract

With this research, we intend to study how the city of Lisbon is represented in fados. Understanding as multimodal linguistic-musical texts, fados that have as their theme the city of Lisbon will be analyzed in the light of the theoretical proposals of Sociodiscursive Interactionism and French Discourse Analysis (AD) in order to study the textual and discursive mechanisms used by the composers to represent the city. Considering the importance of this musical genre for the Portuguese cultural formation, the analysis seeks to understand the participation of the fados in the discursive formation of the imaginary of the city of Lisbon.
