Abstract Many of the catalytic process currently employed by the industrial sector makes use of rare and expensive metals. However, the replacement of these elements by base metals, such as Fe, Cu Ni, etc, might not be something trivial. In this regard, this research project aims the development of new catalytic systems based on nickel complexes for application in aza- and oxa-Heck-Matsuda couplings, as well as in intermolecular desymmetrization of carbonyl compounds through asymmetric ±-arylation reactions. To this, will be evaluated the synthesis of new N, N and phosphine based ligands, were will be studied the stereoelectronic influences of different groups on the catalytic activity of the metal. After, will be performed the synthesis and the characterization of pre-catalysts based in Ã-aril nickel complexes derived from the ligands synthetized, as well as evaluating synthetic methodologies to improve the performance of the catalyst systems developed in the proposed transformations.
