Abstract

This project aims to study the representation of women in the Chamber of Deputies from 2003 to 2019. The objective is to understand if the legislative production of women has a positive impact on the group represented in society. That is, it seeks to understand whether the legislative production of women in the Chamber of Deputies represents a structure of interests that protects and expands their rights in civil society, whether in the consolidation of civil, social or political rights. Starting from the perspective of sociological institutionalism, in which symbolic systems, cognitive schemas and moral models for the explanation of actors' behavior are valued, the hypothesis is defended that the female representation is not linear, so that its presence in the political context does not concern exclusively the interests of women who seek the ideal of the welfare state for their category of citizenship. Thus, diverse interests and structures linked to value systems impact the political game, and may reflect on the negative actions of the deputies towards the women they represent. (AU)
