Abstract

This project of Scientific Initiation is inserted in the scope of researches whose thematic ones are on the development and characterization of metallic alloys destined to the biomedical application. It has as main objective to investigate the preparation and processing of the TNTM-O beta-metastable alloy, which has a martensitic transition, as well as the systematic evaluation of its microstructure with the aging thermal treatments, which will be compared later with the same alloy produced without oxygen. The preparation of this alloy will be of great importance for the research group, since being a new alloy, its acquisition is extremely difficult. It will be produced from cast and mixtures of TNTM bars and rutile (TiO2) using an arc furnace. After, chemical analysis will be accomplished, so the aging thermal treatments will be used in order to obtain different microstructures and determine the elastic modulus. The results of this project should support future research to determine mechanical properties for compositions with low elastic moludus. Therefore, several heat treatment conditions will be generated with the different microstructures to be confronted with each other and also with alloy results in the absence of oxygen, which have been studies by other researchers in the group.
