Abstract

Over the last few years, the spontaneous formation of carbonic acid hemiesters (HECAs) in aqueous medium from HCO3-/CO2 and a compound having at least one alcohol group has been demonstrated. This work demands intense and continued development of analytical instrumentation. The present project aims at the improvement of a capillary electrophoresis system with double conductometric detection and mass spectrometry, as well as development of microfabrication techniques for fluidic systems for use in combination with the cited technique and others for the detection and characterization of HECAs.
