Abstract

This project aims to investigate the Art/Life binomial of the artist Yukio Mishima with the notion of art as an expanded field as the guiding thread. Assuming the work of Darci Kusano Yukio Mishima: O Homem de Teatro e de Cinema (2006) as a script, the present study will concentrate, firstly, on parts III and IV of her work, in which the author travels respectively the course of the River of Body and the River of Action referred to Mishima at the Yukio Mishima Exhibition in 1970, which deal with his body and action considerations grounded in his conception of death. Later, the study turns to the artist as a primary source, deepening in his works Sol e Aço (1985), referenced by Kusano as his best treatise on the body, and Introdução ao Hagakure (1987), where, according to Kusano, conceives his philosophy of death. At the same time, the objective is to question him from the perspective of art as an expanded field in order to better encompass the integration between art and life reflected in his trajectory. For this, the research projects the cross between the creative universe of Mishima and reflections from the expanded idea of art.
