Evaluation of the surface microhardness and depth of bulk-fill and conventional composites

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the Knoop microhardness on the surface and at different depths of three conventional composites and three high viscosity bulk-fill composites. 48 samples (n = 10) in cylinder form will be made. The samples will be divided into 6 experimental groups according to the composite (conventional Tetric N-Ceram, Tetric N-Ceram Bulk-fill - IVOCLAR VIVADENT, Filtek Z350 XT, Filtek One Bulk-fill - 3M ESPE, Conventional Aura, Aura Bulk- fill - SDI). An increment of each composite will be inserted in a Teflon matrix of 4mm in height and will be photoactivated by the photopolymerizer Valo (Ultradent) in Standard mode for 20 s. After 24 hours, the samples will be submitted to the Microhardness Knoop test to evaluate the surface microhardness and at different depths: 0.5mm; 1,5mm; 2,5m; 3.5mm. The data will be submitted to statistical analysis ANOVA two factors and Tukey test with significance level of 5%.
