Abstract

Monitoring water quality is an essential tool in preventing diseases for humans. Currently, the problem of water quality is global and mainly due to population growth, which is expected to exceed 9 billion by 2050. This population growth associated with poor effluent management and limited disposal strategies has consequently generated an increase in different types of chemicals found in water bodies. Among the substances, so-called pollutants or emerging contaminants have gained prominence in studies of drinking-water analysis around the world. Thus, the detection of such substances in water is paramount in order to analyze the possible effects on health. In this context, the development of this Research Internships Abroad (BEPE) project has as main objective to manufacture and optimize electrochemical sensors for the detection of bisphenol-A, an emerging pollutant that acts as an endocrine disruptor. The sensors will be manufactured using mainly metal phthalocyanines embedded in carbon paste electrodes (CPE). (AU)
