Abstract

Depression has been a health care disorder recognized by several Brazilian researchers. The present work will aim to partially replicate Campos'(2010) research, seeking to identify indicators of depression and social skills repertoires in adolescents of different sexes and social conditions, with the particularity of investigating the use of photography as a technique that could expand the information about this health condition, bringing indicators of multimodal measures. Will participate in the research students from public and private schools, aged between 14 and 17 years old. In Phase 1 will be aplied the Script of general Information and The Inventory of Children's Depression (CDI), considering the scores, 30 adolescents with depression indicators and in 30 without indicators of depression will be invited to attend to the study. In phase 2, the chosen adolescents will meet in groups of up to five people, where they are supposed to answer to the Social Skills Inventory (IHSA-Del-Prette) and the Brazilian Economic Indicator, besides that they will also receive basic photography instructions requesting that, in a week, they take a set of 20 to 24 photographs replying the following question: "How is my life now?". Phase 3 is characterized by an individual meeting with each student, aiming a dialogue about the photos through a pre-structured interview considering themes previously selected. For data analysis, depression and social skills scores will be acquired by comparing participants with and without depression, different sexes and socioeconomic groups. The qualitative and quantitative photography analyzes will also consider the same variables. All data collected through the diversity of instruments will be correlated and analyzed in order to obtain multimodal indicators about the investigated population. (AU)
