Abstract

The research described in the present project aims to analyze the painting Retrato da condessa de Casa Flores, produced between 1790 and 1797 by Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, currently located in MASP's (Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand) collection, by donation of the Morganti family. The central object of the research is the study of the painting, by means of the identification of the figure portrayed, It's relevance for the Spanish context at that moment, as well as the comprehension of the space It occupies inside the vast artistic production of Goya, and the way that the feminine figure is represented in other works by the artist. Therefore, the aim is to deepen the iconographic and historical works, with the support of a bibliography and primary fonts, in order to comprehend the moment and motives that led Goya to produce the portrait, as well as the reconstruction of the trajectory of the painting until it's arrival in the museum and the place it occupies nowadays in MASP's collection.
