Abstract

This research is part of a work plan started in 2016 on the critical reception of the work of Fernando Pessoa. During the requested period of three months at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", we will investigate, by a specific angle, the critical reception of Fernando Pessoa in Italy to identify and analyze the approaches of the Portuguese poet with authors of the Italian canon. Looking for an independent reading of the horizon of expectations present in the work of Pessoa and relatively distant from the Portuguese interpretive community, we will try to understand the literary bases of that fusion of cultural horizons, as well as the new efects of meaning that resulted in the image of the poet.
