Abstract

Objective: Analyze the association between training volume (TV) and bone mineral density (BMD) with emphasis on the mediation by variables of body composition and sleep quality. Methods: Will be recruited adolescents, from 11 to 18 years old, in schools and sportive associations from Presidente Prudente. Will be used the following inclusion criteria: (I) practice of only one sport modality in the last 12 months; (II) at least 12 months of previous involvement in the current sport modality; (III) the legal responsible for the adolescent must sign the consent and assent term. Independent variable: training volume. Mediator variables: sleep quality, body lean soft tissue and body fatness. Dependent variable: bone mineral density. Confusion factor: chronological age, biological maturation (estimated by the peak height velocity), weight and height. Kurtosis and Skewness will be used for normality purposes. Data will be described using mean and standard deviation value of the groups. Structural equation modeling will be used, adopting the maximum likelihood method as well as bootstrapping resampling method to test indirect effects. All analyzes will be done on the software SPSS version 22.0, significance level adopted p<0.05. Expected results: It expects that sleep quality, body fatness and lean soft tissue mediate the association between training volume and bone mineral density.
