Abstract Physical exercise contributes to a deficit in energy balance, however due to food intake, there is a compensatory energy expenditure spent during the exercise session. The effect of exercise session on food intake has been known as anorexic effect of exercise, which it is able to change the hormones secretion related to appetite control, and modulate hunger and food intake. Recently, the modulations of hunger and food intake were attributed to the increase in hypothalamic temperature caused by exercise. Capsaicin is a natural substance found in peppers and has been used as a nutritional strategy to induce weight loss due to its neural, thermogenic and lipid metabolism, besides it is a substance that can increase body and hypothalamic temperature. Thus, the objective of this study will be to verify the effects of acute Capsaicin supplementation combined with aerobic exercise on the food intake in physically active young adults. For this, healthy young adults will be submitted to 5 experimental sessions: first will be evaluate aerobic fitness through incremental test and body composition by DEXA. The four subsequent sessions will be randomized into capsaicin condition (12 mg) and placebo (12 mg of starch) without exercise and during continuous aerobic exercise (30 minutes at 70% of maximal aerobic velocity achieved at incremental test). During the experimental sessions the feeling of hunger will be assessed through the use of a visual analogue scale; after the exercise the participants can feed themselves in a buffet ad libitum and the 24 h food record will be used. For analysis of the data, the two-way analysis of variance will be use (condition x time), and for the amount of calories ingested the analysis of variance to a factor (condition), through SPSS software (version 17.0) | |
