Abstract

The exercise intensity has been considered significant to obtain physiological success and the high intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of outstanding proposals nowaday. In this way, studies involving the application of HIIT aiming physical conditioning and health has attracted the attention of scientific community in recent years, especially with some results signalizing higher energy expenditure in less time training session if compered another training method. So, HIIT has been considered an efficient alternative for both sedentary or obese individuals. However, there is a lack of knowledge about HIIT chronic effects (positive and negative) when applied to active or inactive organisms, especially on physiological stress, muscular, hepatic, cardiac and bone tissue adaptations. In previous studies we observed that housing space where rodents are kept can change the level of spontaneous physical activity of these animals, suggesting that this is an interesting model to simulate lower and higher levels of global activity. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the long-term effects of high intensity interval training in running exercise about aerobic and anaerobic adaptations, spontaneous physical activity levels, stress biomarkers, body composition and availability energy stocks, as well as bone tissue adaptations of active or inactive mice, according with adopted housed space. Therefore, mice C57BL / 6J will be divided into six groups (n = 10 animals for all): two baseline (baseline standard group (BL-GP), baseline large group (BL-GA): euthanized before the start of the experiment) and four others groups discriminated by housed characteristics - standard housing space (Standard group-GP) or enlarged (large group- GA), control (C) and submitted to HIIT (trained-T) (GP-C; GP-T; GA-C; GA-T). The first step will be to test the aerobic and anaerobic capacities to evaluate these parameters and promote the individualization of training program. The training program will be applied for 10 weeks, with a frequency of 5 weekly sessions, followed by 4 sets of 3 repetitions with 30 seconds effort at 150% of Critical Velocity (VCrit) and active recovery at 50% of VCrit for the same time, occurring passive recovery of 2 minutes between sets. Total session volume will be 20 minutes. Moreover, there will be 5 minutes of warm-up and calm back after training sessions with the same time. Throughout the program will be analyses acute physiological responses and there will be readjustment intensity with reapplication of VCrit tests. The spontaneous physical activity (SPA) will be monitored daily, with high frequency of capture of signals (200Hz). After training program, will be analyses corticosterone, adrenal, cholesterol, serum glucose, fatty acids and tissue glycogen concentrations, as well as SPA quantification, aerobic and anaerobic capacities, body composition and bone responses. The results will be presented in mean and standard deviation. If normality and homogeneity of data were confirmed, we will be adopted parametric statistics, with ANOVA (two way) test for comparison of the data. Among other perspectives, we believe that different adaptations will be generated by HIIT when applied the less or more active groups, here represented for different conditions of housing. (AU)
