Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious health problem worldwide and even after more than a century of its discovery it is still responsible for the occurrence of millions of deaths each year. In the year 2016 were reported 10.4 million people who became ill with TB and 1.8 million people died from the disease. Goal: To investigate risk areas for mortality due to tuberculosis in the municipality of Cuiabá -MT. Method: This is an ecological study with multiple analysis measures to be carried out in the city of Cuiabá, capital of the state of Mato Grosso. Included in the study will be the deaths caused by TB (International Classification of Diseases - ICD version 10 codes A15.0 to A19.9), registered in the Mortality Information System (SIM) in the period from 2006 to 2015 and residents of the municipality of Cuiabá. The human development units were defined as the ecological cluster of the study, since it is the geographic unit with greater homogeneity. Tuberculosis deaths will be geocoded and the distribution of this disease in the space will be verified. The scan statistic will be used to identify the risk areas for TB mortality in the municipality under investigation. It is believed that through the accomplishment of this study it is possible to extract meanings additional to the conventional analyzes already carried out in the region and thus to help in understanding the complex dynamics of TB
